Sanofi Aventis Vietnam Company Limited & Green health journey

Overview

Sanofi Aventis Vietnam Company Limited (Sanofi Vietnam) is a member of the Sanofi Group based in France. In Vietnam, Sanofi has a history of 70 years of establishment and development. Currently, the company maintains a leading position in the pharmaceutical market with a diverse portfolio of over 150 products in areas such as cardiovascular, thrombosis, diabetes, cancer, central nervous system disorders, internal medicine, rare diseases, and vaccines.

R&D and Production Activities

In Vietnam, Sanofi produces both generic and originator drugs. Notable products manufactured at the Sanofi Vietnam Plant include Panadol, Panadol Extra, Lactacyd, Alphachymotrypsine, Telfast, Acemuc, Nautamine, Theralene, Mersynofene, Mepraz, Calcium corbiere, etc.

In 2015, Sanofi inaugurated its third plant in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP), a facility with nearly fully automated production lines meeting the TGA-GMP standards of Australia. It serves as the sole research center for Sanofi Group in the Southeast Asia region and is becoming a production center for the entire ASPAC market.

In the near future, Sanofi aims to expand its production for export to markets including South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. Additionally, Sanofi Vietnam is replacing the Sanofi Indonesia facility to become the main research and production center in the regional and global pharmaceutical supply chain. In Vietnam, Sanofi continues to support government healthcare programs.

Sanofi is a pioneer in the “Green Project in Pharmaceuticals” implementing a large-scale biomass energy project using rice husks in Vietnam.

  • Converting fossil fuel-powered boilers to biomass rice husks, considered a convenient and environmentally friendly energy source.
  • Zero use of fossil fuels: reducing 2.3 thousand tons of CO2 annually and cutting >40% of water heating costs.
  • Using 100% new alternative energy sources, contributing to the development of a green and environmentally friendly industrial ecosystem.

The Sanofi Vietnam plant has implemented various plastic waste reduction programs throughout the product life cycle, actively contributing to environmental protection. The “Planet Mobilization” program has achieved significant results over a 10-year environmental goal, including a 22% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 73% recycling rate for factory waste.

The Eco-Garden ecological garden at the Sanofi Vietnam plant in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hi-Tech Park covers over 225 square meters with a variety of trees, vegetables, and fruits. Organic farming models are also implemented, contributing to building a closed and modern ecological system.
